The sun is shining (not today) but the daffodils and tulips have bloomed, most of us have already made the switch from our winter warmers to our flowing summer wardrobe, it’s just a few days til we welcome the month of May and yes, Spring-Summer looks have most definitely arrived on our fave cosmetics counters!
It’s my most loved of all seasonal “looks” as Spring/Summer makeup always embodies everything I go for when it comes to my personal makeup wardrobe: it’s feminine, fresh, pretty, there’s a glow that’s brought (back) to the face after the drying effects of winter…..and the best part of it is that the collections are made to be customized to suit personal tastes or lifestyles to create a beautiful, sophisticated and best of all, effortless face.
Trends show that shades of corals and baby pinks are big this season, and nude beiges and light natural base colors are back for the “No-makeup look” lovers, while brilliant bursts of colors -in blues, greens and lilacs, are available in show-off worthy palettes!
In place of the bright 80s inspired eyes of last season are an array of pastels as seen on the Nicole Farhi and Dior shows. Pink lips are back and was all over the catwalk in shades of soft rose – worn over deep plums to lighten the look as seen in Marc by Marc Jacobs – coral pinks added glamour at Missoni, baby pink nude glosses at Max Mara and Hermes were popular, and pops of bright pinky reds left models catwalk ready at Prada. And who could ignore the new Chanel Rouge de Coco ads with the beautiful Vanessa Paradis?
Global director for Max Factor and catwalk make-up artist supremo Pat McGrath says, “It’s about confidence now, not complication.”
To keep this post short, here’s just a few of my favorite Summer 2010 collections and limited edition shades out there:
