Marcelle and Annabelle Cosmetics

Spring is finally here and soon the grass and trees will be green again, instead of all covered in ice, and all muddy and… twiggy! I can’t wait!

To get me in the spirit of spring while feeling a little under the weather lately, I thought I’d brush on some bronzer and a happy pop of blush. I couldn’t wait to try out these goodies from two of my fave Canadian cosmetics brands, Marcelle and Annabelle cosmetics.

lipsies by Annabelle cosmeticsThese Lipsies are fun chunky retractable tinted lip balms that come in 12 scents ($4.95 each from Shoppers). The cherry red one went to my daughter’s friend (and mommy) and the Vanilla coconut one is mine (or my little girl’s since it’s now in her school bag!). I’m wearing it below.

Lipsies add the perfect hint of shiny colour for lips that feel soft, smooth and moisturized.

  • 12 cool aromas.
  • Hydrating non-sticky glossy balm.
  • Sheer colour.
  • Easy-to-use retractable crayon format.
  • Funky and fun design.
  • No sharpener needed.

Biggy Bronzer by Annabelle Since we’re all yearning for some sun, why not bring it on with some bronzing power! I’m not a huge fan of the sparkly variety but this huge appropriately named ‘Biggy Bronzer’ by Annabelle in Dark Gold goes on so smoothly with a demi matte finish. Very flattering bronze and gold shades. I think I would have preferred the Matte Gold but this did give my skin a nice luminous sun-kissed look. (SRP $11.95). It comes in 3 shades, Haute Gold, Dark Gold and Matte Gold.

IMG_0028-003 Annabelle Biggy Zebra Bronzer in Dark GoldI love pairing bronzer and a fresh pop of blush together, and this universal shade called Hibiscus, by Annabelle reminded me of the bestselling peachy-pink golden “glow” blush from NARS called, (all-together-now-)’Orgasm’. I think it looks great, but much like the “O” blush, this one leaves my skin more highlighted than pink/peachy, so it’ll be something I’d use in my kit for my fairer skin toned clients, or I’d pair it with a deeper blush shade like their Peony pink for that “coming-from-within” flush and glow. Very pretty shade and good dupe though! The Annabelle blushes come in 10 shades ($7.95 SRP). Weightless and its velvety texture make it easy to apply and perfectly blendable for a healthy looking complexion!Annabelle Blush in Hibiscus Annabelle Biggy Zebra Bronzing powder in dark gold and Hibiscus blushThis (above) is what the Dark Gold bronzer (left stripe) and the Hibiscus blusher (right stripe) look like on my skin.Annabelle Biggy Zebra Bronzing Powder in Dark Gold and Hibiscus blush Annabelle Stay Sharp self-sharpening waterproof lipliners Check out these Stay Sharp WATERPROOF lipliners! And guess what..? Love. Especially how easily it goes on and blends out with that itty-bitty useful brow brush on one end! Comes in 3 shades, I just don’t have Universal Light, but I think I’ll go and get one. They’re only $8.95, and are waterproof, matte and easy to blend! Quick 1-minute brow below:

Marcelle cosmetics Double Precision liquid Eyeliner Pen, one brush point and the other end a wider felt tip penMarcelle sent me their Precision duo ended waterproof liner and (yay!) their 3-in-1 Micellar Solution.  I’ve already been using the Precision liner on my clients and I love how the thinner brush end helps to finesse the liner after false lash application, AND for tight-lining. While the bigger felt-tip end, easily draws on a bolder line. It could be more opaque for my taste, but it is waterproof and longwearing! The soothing Micellar Solution still managed to take it cleanly off with just one or two swipes though. I’m already a big fan of Marcelle’s Ultra Gentle Gel Cleanser (previously reviewed here) so I was a believer of this before I even opened it. I wasn’t disappointed and the pump-top is so convenient to use. Love love love. $19.95 for 300ml!

“A 3-in-1 solution that gently cleanses, effectively removes make-up from both face and eyes, and soothes the skin. Its no-rinse formula micro-emulsifies impurities without irritating even the most dry and intolerant skin.

It is effective even on longwear and waterproof make-up. The skin is left exceptionally clean, fresh and soothed.”
