Naked

Thought that’d get your attention! I mean, I feel “naked” without my make-up on…. But the naked truth is (Ok, enough with the naked stuff), I don’t always have time to apply a full face of make-up on before I step out for work at 7:15AM everyday.

I recently renewed my passport. Wow. What a  d i f f e r e n c e  a few years makes when you’re in your thirties (and have had a baby)!  … My “10-minute face” has become my “10-minute conceal- the-dark- circles- under- my -eyes- that -darn- sun (age) spot-and- broken- capillaries- around- my- nose- AND THEN, do- the- rest- of- my face“. *sigh*

Seriously, it’s amazing what make-up can do for you! Most of the comments I get is about how nice my skin looks and, perhaps not as often as before, but I still get a few surprised, “You have a baby? I thought you were just in your 20′s!”. (I’d like to thank my mother, my father, my Asian genes, God and yellow-based concealers) :p But that’s because I DO wear make-up everyday. I have done so since I was ummmm, 14 or 16..? And I believe that’s what has helped “preserve” my skin from harmful elements (Free Radicals) such as over exposure to the sun, wind burn, pollution etc. When I do decide to step out “without my face on” -people approach me and ask if I’m ok!? I look tired, and when I catch a reflection of myself in a mirror or a shop window and see how I look, I feel tired.

So, don’t be fooled. When you do see me “without” make-up on, I’m likely wearing at least my top 5 must-haves (unless I’m on the beach or in the gym- which is never): Laura Mercier’s Secret Concealer and Secret Camouflage; Translucent powder; lightly smudged eye liner; and a touch of blush. And my Shu Uemura eye lash curler, mascara, brow duo and tinted lip balm will all be in my purse for when I have time to re touch:D

me, 8 months pregnant with "no makeup" on :D

I wish I could just roll out of bed, shower etc. get dressed and head to work bare faced, aside from moisturizer! It’ll let me sleep in for another 20 minutes! If I looked as good without make-up on as my friend and colleague, Kirsten does, I’d be catching those well-needed extra 20 minutes of “Zzzzzzz’s” everyday. Take a look at her Before and After -I locked her in an empty classroom and made her up, pics below:
